Our Story

“This is a story about our dream which we have dreamed for over 50 years to leave a part of what we worked so hard for, the land that has given us so much”

As most stories do, our story started before our time. It started with the generation that came before us who broke the land and laid the tracks for what was to come.

Our story also took a number of twists and turns guided by a series of events, some big and some small, that would change the lives of those involved forever and ultimately bring us to the time and place we were meant to be.

Our story is one of hard work, but it is also of story of blessing and indeed about angels who made their presence known throughout our lives. We mention some of these angels by name but felt the presence of many more who all share the name neighbour.

We believe this is a story with a vision about a family who recognized the need for change both in our farming operations and ultimately how we face transitions in our life.

This is a story about community, which means so many things. It means neighbors helping neighbors and it also means creating places where people can come together in fellowship.

This is a story about the land, how it came to be in our stewardship and how we believe we need to leave it better than we found it for future generations. This part of the story has changed throughout the years as we’ve seen Calgary grow to our doorstep but is non-the-less fundamental to our story.

This is a story about our dream which we have dreamed for over 50 years to leave a part of what we worked so hard for, the land that has given us so much … to build a church for the community and a beautiful senior facility to allow the very people who have built our community to stay connected to their partners as they transition through the final stages of their life.

This is ultimately a story about a gift we want to give. We see this land as a gift to the church, a gift to our neighbors, a gift to our seniors who worked hard to build this community and finally a gift to God. When someone asked us why we would give such a valuable piece of land away… we simply responded when you give a gift to God you give Him the very best.

We hope you enjoy our story. History is important… but so is the future. Our wish is for our story to join with your story; for our community to join with your community and for our legacy to add to your legacy.
